About Us

Excess Volleyball Club is the fastest growing VB club in the tri-state area. It was started in 2006 and known as Rockford-Forreston, a satellite club of Rockford Volleyball, which has been in existence since 1985. The new name Excess Volleyball was created in 2009 and Pecatonica High School became the new practice facility as the club grew to 12 teams.

Our club is designed for the multi-sport athlete. We work around the athlete’s sport and school schedule.  Practices are on Sunday. Tournaments are also on Sunday and occasionally on Saturdays. Travel teams will have one weeknight practice per week as well.

Our club season runs from November thru April.

The athlete will trained in up-to-date techniques and given the opportunity to compete in USAV tournaments. The club is directed by Rick Manus. Rick has been involved in club and high school volleyball since 1996. He took his 18’s team to the USA nationals in 2007 and many girls have gone on to college volleyball including 10 this year.

Excess offers a regional and a traveling team. Please click here to see details and costs for the team you are interested in.

Excess Volleyball was created to provide an opportunity for young female athletes to improve their volleyball skills and abilities, compete at a higher level, to teach the principles of teamwork and sportsmanship, and to teach responsibility and commitment.

USA Volleyball is the governing body for competitive volleyball in the United States. In 1981, it made a commitment to provide opportunities for young players to play outside of their school programs and in 1991 created a Division of the USAV exclusively devoted to Youth & Junior Olympic Volleyball development. The USAV states that junior volleyball programs represented ... the future of volleyball in the US. [Its junior program] was created to serve as a major building block for scholastic, collegiate, recreational and club play throughout the country.
